Norfolk June 2014
Wed June4th
Set off at 0950and had quite a good trip, it was grey and wet with a lot of spray on the roads. We stopped in a layby for lunch and arrived at Waxham at 3.25. Harry & Loraine had arrived a few minutes before us but didn't like the pitches we'd been allocated so he rang the owner to see if we could change, she agreed but said to park with our backs to the house which we did, when she turned up later we were pitched wrong she meant what we would call the side of the van with the door facing into the field, anyway she said to leave it as we'd got our awning up. We had tea then a few games of triominoes before bed.

Thurs June 5th
Harry had realised that his MOT was up so had to take his car into a garage in Norwich, we called at Aldi first then Loraine and I went on park and ride into town. We had a good mooch round the shops and market, it was showery but brightened up a bit. Back to van for tea and a few games before bed.
Fri June 6th
Woke to a beautiful, sunny morning. We drove to Wroxham and hired a boat for a trip on the Broads, it was absolutely wonderful, the weather was perfect and scenery fantastic, many lovely houses alongside the river. There were lots of birds, swans, geese, coot, terns and ducks. We moored up and had a picnic before setting of for the return journey, we saw a pair of swans with 5 small cygnets on the parent's back and a couple of grebe. When we got back we had a look round the small town then had a drink in a cafe overlooking the water. Back to the site and we cooked tea for H&L.
Sat June 7th
Weather forecast bad so didn't plan anything, we went into Marham for a few things, stopped at a house selling produce from the garden for fresh veg, it bucketed down with rain. We called at Horsey Mill for a tea and cake but it was raining again so back to site. After lunch Loraine & I did some craft work while Harry prepared tea for us, after tea a few games before bed.
Sun June 8th
Another lovely, sunny day, we went to look at Waxham Barns, huge, thatched medieval barns restored in the 1990s, we had a drink there then went on the coast road for a while and stopped for lunch at a tea room that Harry had found on his bike ride, it was in a semi detached house, it had a burgher van at the front then tables in the rest of the front garden, one room inside was the counter and there were tables in another room and also in a small conservatory, there were more tables in the back garden, it quite scruffy, all odd tables weathered with mismatched chairs and the garden needed a lot of tidying and trimming but it was very quaint and charming with lots of interesting plants.
We went on to Hapisburgh were there is a lighthouse and an owl visiting place, looked round there for a while then back to van
Mon June 9th
Rich & Harry took the van to the garage for them to look at, it is a shock absorber which they need to order and would let us know. We went to Aldi for a few things we were going to go to Norwich but couldn't find a parking place so gave up and went to Potter Higham, another waterside town with a large store and low bridge. We cooked tea for H&L then we all had a walk in the lovely, still evening.
Tue June 10th
Another sunny morning, waited for the garage to ring which they did and said they could do van tomorrow. After lunch we took Crackers on the beach which she loved, we saw a couple of seals close to shore, back to van and had a nap then a bit of craft, after tea a few games before bed.
Wed June 11th
Up early and took van to garage for 8am, went to beach for a while at Sea Palling then back to Harry & Loraine's van. We went for a drive to Caister, which was very disappointing, nothing there but we did go and look at the castle which is the first to be made of brick, then we on to Potter Heigham where we had a drink at burgher van then another look round Latham's store, called at Martham on way back but the shop we wanted to look in was closed so went back to van. Had a sandwich and sat in sun for a while then we did a bit of craft work. The garage rang to say they had got the wrong parts and would have to order more which may take another week, Rich fetched the van back and we decided it's best to stay here, H&L said they would stay with us 'til Mon, the men set up our van then moved theirs round. We went to a local pub, Nelson's Head, for a meal which was very nice, also got wifi there.
Thurs June 12th
Went to Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, it was another glorious, sunny day and we all enjoyed the reserve but it was a long, tiring day.
Fri June 13th
Loraine and I went into Norwich on the park & ride, the men mooched round Wroxham. We went in the cathedral, vast with fantastic stone fan vaulting, then walked down Elm Hill, the oldest, cobbled street, we went into a large department store, Jarrold, and had a snack before looking round, there was a very good craft department, but quite expensive, we bought a few things. We walked through the Castle Mall and came out on a terrace below the castle then made our way slowly back to the bus station via the market. Harry picked us up and we called at Tesco on the way back. After tea we went to the pub to get wifi and a drink.
Sat June 14th
Cooler this morning, we drove to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, had a picnic in Lowestoft, a cool breeze. Loraine and I did a bit of craft before tea then in the evening a few games before bed.
Sun June15th
Cloudy and cooler this morning. We drove to Happisburgh and had a drink in the little tea room again then driving around we came across a canal preservation event which we stopped and looked around, Loraine and I won on the tombola, a chopping board and a football, called at the farm shop before going back to the site. After lunch Loraine and I did some craft work and in the evening we went for a meal at the Nelson's Head.
Mon June 16th
Harry & Loraine left about 09.30. We went for a drive and passing the garage called to check on progress only to find that they hadn't ordered the parts, had misunderstood Rich! Called at Tesco then back to van and watched TV in afternoon as weather not good, grey and cool.
Tue June 17th
In the morning it was not bad weather so we walked the whole dog walk which was very pleasant and took us by a canal. After lunch we went to see if we could see some seals, it was very blustery along the cliff tops but we didn't see any.
Wed June 18th
It was grey and cool, drove to Potter Higham, got a couple of boxes in Latham's. We called at Poppyland for a cuppa then back to the van. Bit of TV after tea before bed.
Thurs June 19th
Took the van to the garage hoping it will be fixed today. Drove on to Cromer and West Runton, called at an hotel in Mundesley for a cuppa and loo. It was windy and raining. Drove back and saw the van on jacks being worked on, fingers crossed. Had a drink in the pub then sat in car on pitch. The garage rang to say they had done the shock absorber but couldn't do the MOT as there was a lot of welding needed, we decided we would have to risk driving home without the MOT. We collected the van then went for a meal at the pub and had an early night.
Fri June 20th
Up and away by 0850 and home by 2.30, it seemed a long journey as there were lots of road works.

Walnut Farm was a very nice site, peaceful and well run in a lovely area, it had a long, very well marked dog walk and and at £16 a night is reasonably priced.
